Research by Chris Baerveldt

BACKGROUND

Chris Baerveldt has been studying criminological issues such as youth delinquency, effects of prevention, the dynamics of the Dutch prison system, and moral panic about youth crime and drug use in the Netherlands for the past fifteen years. More recently, he has focused significant attention on social networks. The study he provides looks at the relationship between Dutch high school students' social networks and delinquency.

The data used in this study originate from the Dutch School Behavior Study, designed and supervised by Chris, consisting of 1,317 students (aged 15 to 17 years) in 20 high schools in the Netherlands.
